Chanel: Living In The Now With The J12 (Part 2)

You’ve seen the ‘Le Duel‘ campaign in the earlier post, as well as a sneak peek at the #MademoiselleJ12 over on Instagram where we threw Michael Jackson’s famous line over to you. ‘Black? Or White?’. Truthfully though, while many of you were on either #TeamWhite or #TeamBlack (with a couple choosing both), there is no one ‘right’ colour’, as all of you are right in your own way.

IMAGE: CHANEL

Continuing our series of Time According to Chanel, Chanel firmly believes that it’s not about differentiating between the two, because colours Blackand White actually support each other, and in fact complement one another. How? If you look beneath the bezel, both watches actually feature both colours. The White J12 has Black elements like time markers and fonts, while the Black J12 is simply an exact mirror of the White. You can see how both colours work effortlessly well together (pleasing to the eyes, no doubt), and it’s simply a matter of which colour you feel like carrying off for the day as you prepare and get ready to head out in the morning.

Another great thing about the J12 lies in it’s versatility. It’s a watch that looks good on both men and women. Yes, even though it’s predominantly a ladies watch, it’s a watch that men (who have the confidence and style, no less) can pull off equally well as well. It’s versatility further extends in its ability to be dressed up and down, for days where you’re out to make a killer fashion statement, or on-off days where you’re heading out in a casual outfit with the J12 sitting comfortably on the wrist.

Black and White. His and Hers. All in one with the J12. How will you wear yours today?

And if you appreciate the J12‘s irreverent sense of time, you’ll definitely also love this new limited edition release. Known as the #J12Graffiti, all the numbers on the dial seem to be falling off the case, which fittingly is very Chanel and its infinite reinterpretations of time. Limited to just 1200 pieces worldwide, these high-tech ceramic beauties only come in sizes 33 mm and 38 mm, priced at SGD6650 and SGD7550 respectively.

Chanel Boyfriend Watch And Boyfriend Black Dial Steel Tweed Collection

CHANEL BOYFRIEND WATCH
“Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” This famous quote by Gabrielle Chanel also applies to watches. An elegant luxury watch will never be out of fashion. It’s a lifetime investment. At Baselworld 2016, I was invited to see Chanel’s new watch collections. One of my favourite is the BOYFRIEND Watch, a watch with a masculine allure just for women. Its shape? The Octagon. A shape that brings the emblematic and iconic Première watch to mind, as a tribute to the legendary N°5 bottle and to Place Vendôme. A creation inscribed in the watchmaking vocabulary of the House with its sober, refined design, strong lines, and its signature shape. The design is both contemporary and classic, and its angles are polished or satin-finished. The inspiration: The Masculine. Chanel takes its first feminine creation, the PREMIÈRE, into masculine territory. The BOY FRIEND watch holds within the art of twisting the elements from the masculine wardrobe so dear to Mademoiselle Chanel. CHANEL BOYFRIEND WATCH chanel-boyfriend-tweed (Above) BOYFRIEND Tweed Watch: Steel case (21.5 x 27.9 mm). Steel bezel set with 62 brilliant-cut diamonds (~0.37 ct). Black guilloché dial. Steel crown and black spinel cabochon. Steel bracelet with tweed pattern and steel folding buckle. High-precision quartz movement. chanel-boyfriend-steel (Above) BOYFRIEND Steel Watch (small size): Steel case (21.5 x 27.9 mm). Steel bezel set with 62 brilliant-cut diamonds (~0.37 ct). chanel-boyfriend-paved-beige-gold (Above) BOYFRIEND Paved (Beige Gold): Numbered edition. 18K BEIGE GOLD case (26.7 x 34.6 mm). 18K BEIGE GOLD bezel set with 64 brilliant-cut diamonds (~0.71 ct). Dial set with 382 brilliant-cut diamonds (~1.45 ct). 18K BEIGE GOLD crown set with 7 brilliant-cut diamonds (~0.05 ct). 18K BEIGE GOLD folding buckle set with 48 brilliant-cut diamonds (~0.28 ct). High-precision quartz movement. Also available in 18K white gold.

Tweed is embedded in Chanel’s history. It’s hard to think of the company without its signature tweed jacket. The Boy-Friend Tweed watch is available in two models, a small and a medium size. Pictured is the medium size.

A high-precision quartz movement powers the 26.7 x 34.6 millimeter steel case. The watch functions include hours, minutes and a date, which is seen in a small date window at 6 o’clock. All of this is placed on a steel bracelet with tweed pattern and a steel-folding buckle.

Chanel Boy-Friend Tweed
IMAGE: CHANEL Mention tweed and Chanel immediately comes to mind. It was, after all, Coco Chanel who introduced the seriously proper, thick woven woolly fabric that was once the reserve of English gentlemen to the wardrobes of fashionable women in Paris. Today you’ll see the fabric extensively on Chanel’s signature jackets, on their bags, and there was even a season when tweed appeared on the sneakers that were the talk of the town. Taking it a step even further, and further reinforcing the importance of tweed to the French luxury house, you’ll also find tweed on the latest selection of Boyfriendtimepieces from Chanel. Not the actual fabric of course, but an interpretation of tweed, the watch’s bracelet composed of spun steel wires that are interwoven and then stamped with a tweed pattern. IMAGE: CHANEL The end result? Another beautiful timepiece from Chanel Horlogerie, with a bracelet that not only looks like tweed, but will also sit most comfortably as it adjusts to the natural contours of your wrist. Available in 2 sizes, the larger MM (26.7 mm by 34.6 mm) and the smaller PM (21.5 mm by 27.9 mm), both of which will come with refined steel cases set atop jet black watch dials. For those, however, who prefer a little more bling, there’s the one that comes with a full diamond bezel for maximum brilliance. Now available at the Chanel Fine Jewellery Boutique located within Ngee Ann City, prices start from SGD6500 for the one in PM with the full steel case.

About Chanel The House of Chanel was established in 1909 and has been setting fashion industry standards since. Its founder, Coco Chanel, was an influential designer whose products set an elegant precedence in the Chanel watchmaking sector. Chanel’s watchmaking craftsmanship is a celebrated talent. Most recently, the Maison was awarded the GPHG in Artistic Crafts in 2013 for the Mademoiselle Privé Watch With Embroidered Camellia Decoration. The timepiece features a miniature embroidery, made from silk threads. Each timepiece created was hand-embroidered, thus ensuring each piece was unique.

Gingham Style Jewels: It’s a Mad, Plaid World

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

Gingham Style Jewels

You normally see plaid on picnic blankets, flannel shirts, and your old college professor’s blazer. But now the pattern has jumped off cloth and onto gleaming precious metals. Whether abstract or full-on gingham style, these jewels are plaid and proud. They’re the perfect addition of graphic glint to this season’s stripe and polka dot crazes. Get on the Highlands-inspired print now!

Tory Burch Mini Gingham Earrings: A cute, preppy change from basic gold posts. These are trendy graphic grids! The gingham check looks a little like a number sign, though, huh?

Bottega Veneta Woven Hoop Earrings: Bottega’s weaved intrecciato pattern has also taken the leap from fabric, landing appropriately on dark, romantic gunmetal.

Oscar de la Renta Basketweave Collar Necklace: Just the kind of armor jewelry you’d imagine on the likes of a great Scottish queen. Be a modern warrior princess by rocking the collar with an LBD.

Devon Leigh Hammered Gold Basketweave Cuff: The traditionally uneven stripes get kicked into line on this high shine, hammered gold cuff. The pattern is almost unrecognizable.

Nadri Basketweave Teardrop Earrings: These woven teardrop earrings will have you looking pretty in plaid with just a few delicately placed crystals for shine.

Fabergé Egg Pendants: A Few of My Favorite Things

Categories:Jewelry & Watches

Fabrege Egg Pendants

It’s one of those strange years when Easter falls in March, so get ready for the bunny ASAP! Here’s what I’m hoping he’ll bring me (he brings presents to adults, too, right??) – Fabergé’s adorable egg pendants. Sure, they’re not the kind of jewels you can wear 365 days a year, but with pieces this special, you’d only want to bring them out on the best of occasions, anyway. An homage to Peter Carl Fabergé’s original eggs, the aptly-titled Favorites collection offers over 60 styles, ranging from simply embellished gold to carved hardstones like turquoise to a rainbow spiral of gems. Considering Fabergé was the goldsmith to the Russian Imperial Court, a very noticeable amount of inspiration was taken from the country and its culture, including Fabergé’s famous cigarette cases, traditional Russian lacquer work, the Rococo period, Leo Tolstoy’s novel Anna Kareninna, and the Russian Ballet. It will probably take you the next couple of weeks to pick a favorite of The Favorites, but take your time – these are true investments! Inquire at Fabergé.
